Kalahari Explorer Expedition

For this itinerary, your safari begins and ends in Maun, a gateway town in Northern Botswana located on the edge of the breathtaking Okavango Delta.

Getting there: The easiest way for international travelers is via Johannesburg, South Africa, with daily flights available to Maun, Botswana.

Day 1: Your safari begins in Maun around midday, where you’ll be greeted and transported to our camp along the Boteti River. As you settle in, the golden light of the late afternoon provides a serene backdrop to your first game drive. Watch as zebra herds descend to the river, offering incredible photographic opportunities. By evening, enjoy a hearty dinner and a peaceful night at camp.

Day 2: After a morning game drive showcasing the beauty and wildlife of the Makgadikgadi Pans, we embark on an extraordinary adventure deep into the heart of the vast salt pans. This unique landscape, stretching as far as the eye can see, offers a profound sense of isolation and wonder.

As evening falls, the pans become a magical stage for an unforgettable sleep-out experience under the stars. Nestled in the middle of this silent expanse, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the pristine beauty of nature at its most untouched. Your comfortable bedroll, complete with a duvet, pillow, and warm blankets, is set up directly on the salt pan, offering a cozy haven beneath the endless night sky. Rest assured, there are no animals or mosquitoes to disturb your peaceful surroundings.

With no sound or light pollution, the stars shine brighter than ever, creating a celestial masterpiece perfect for night sky photography and time-lapse sequences of the Milky Way. Around a crackling fire, a delicious bush dinner is prepared, allowing you to savor the flavors of the wild under the vast, starlit heavens. This night promises a profound connection to the natural world – a truly life-enriching experience.

Day 3: After a sunrise breakfast on the salt pan, we make our way back to our camp along the Boteti River. Once there, you’ll have the opportunity to freshen up with a shower, relax, and review the stunning night sky footage captured the evening before. In the afternoon, we set off for a game drive along the Boteti River, where you’ll have the chance to photograph the region’s diverse wildlife in the golden light of the late afternoon.

Day 4: After our morning game drive, we journey south to the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The change in scenery is dramatic, with arid plains and expansive horizons. On arrival, a game drive introduces you to this striking region and its distinctive wildlife. By evening, we set up camp in the heart of the reserve.

Day 5-6: Spend two full days exploring the Central Kalahari through morning and afternoon game drives. This area is famous for its black-maned lions, often seen lounging in the golden grass or stalking prey. Cheetahs are another highlight, offering opportunities for high-speed action shots. The reserve’s unique ecosystem also supports oryx, springbok, and an array of birdlife.

Day 7: A final morning game drive allows you to soak in the beauty of the Kalahari one last time. From here, we return to Maun, where your journey concludes in the early afternoon.
